Baseball Drops Non-Conference Contest at UConn on Monday
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a midweek game at UConn, 14-6, on Monday at Elliot Ballpark. The Blue Devils knocked out 14 hits in the game, but the Huskies pulled away with six runs in the eighth inning.
The Blue Devils host a three-game Northeast Conference series against Merrimack beginning on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Paul Tammaro and Matt Garbowski each drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the first to give the Huskies the early lead.
- Central would plate its first run in the second. CCSU put runners on first and second with one out and single by Bo Yaworski made it 2-1.
- UConn came back with six runs in the bottom of the second. Bryan Padilla, Luke Broadhurst and Garbowski each drove in a run with a hit, while Korey Morton drove in a run with a sac fly. Maddix Dalena would drive in two runs with a two-out single to make it 8-1.
- Hunter Pasqualini drew a leadoff walk in the third and moved to second on a single by Dan Hussey. After two batters were retired, Colby Brouillette homered to left field to make it 8-4. Elliot Good followed with a double and would score on a single by Josh Taylor to make it a three-run game.
- In the eighth, Michael Torniero led off with a single and moved to second on a passed ball. Pasqualini would single through the right side and drive him in to make it 8-6.
- The Huskies would push across six runs in the bottom of the eighth. Tammaro hit an RBI-single and after the bases were loaded with one out, Tyler Minick hit a homerun to right field to close out the scoring.
NOTES
- UConn leads the all-time series, 37-9. CCSU has lost the past eight meetings.
- CCSU banged out 14 hits as a team.
- Brady Short and Elliot Good each had two hits, while Brouillette was 1-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.
- Luke Garofalo tossed 2.0 shutout innings in relief.
- Sam Hutchinson tossed 3.0 innings in relief and retired seven straight batters at one point.
- The Blue Devils had the leadoff batter reach base in seven innings, including each of the first four frames.
