
Neuman Recognized as NEC Pitcher of the Week
Central Connecticut lefthander Jake Neuman was named Northeast Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week it was announced Tuesday. Neuman was also joined on the league's list of Prime Performers by Joe Rios.
Neuman was outstanding in his only start of the week. The left hander tossed 9.0 innings and allowed just one run on six hits in series-opener on Friday. He did not figure in the decision as CCSU won 3-2 in 10 innings, but he struck out five and walked none. Neuman allowed just three hits in first 5.0 innings and allowed just two runners past second base in his 9.0 innings. He made his second start of the season in which he has tossed 9+ innings and CCSU is 2-0 in those games. On the year, Neuman has tossed a team-high 55.0 innings across nine starts. He is 3-3 with a 3.71 ERA in NEC play.

Rios batted .500 last week and drove in a team-high 10 RBIs. After driving in two runs in midweek game vs. Quinnipiac, he hit a pinch-hit game-tying double in bottom of 10th in the series-opener vs. Le Moyne on Friday. He capped the weekend by hitting a homerun and driving in five runs in Sunday's win over the Dolphins.
