Baseball Wins Sunday Over LIU, 7-4
The Central Connecticut baseball team closed out its Northeast Conference series with a 7-4 win over LIU on Sunday in New Britain. The CCSU offense scored six runs in the opening three innings, while the bullpen tossed three shutout innings to win the weekend series.
The Blue Devils play a midweek game at Stony Brook on Tuesday.

KEY MOMENTS
- After a single by Hunter Pasqualini in the first inning, Aidan Redahan would hit a homerun off the top of the fence in right field to make it 2-0.
- The Sharks would get a run back in the second inning off a passed ball, before the Blue Devils pushed across four runs in the third. Brady Short led off with a single and would get to second base with two outs. After a hit batter put two runners on, Colby Brouilette's fly ball into the gap in right field was misplayed, allowing the bases to clear and Brouilette to come all the way around and make it 5-1. Gianno Merlonghi followed with a double to centerfield and he came around to score after Bo Yaworski tripled off the wall, making it 6-1.
- JC Navarro would homer for LIU in the fifth and Matt McGurk would hit a two-run homer in the sixth to make it 6-4. The Sharks would load the bases with two outs in the inning, but Sam Hutchinson got out of the jam with a inning-ending fly ball to protect the lead.
- In the eighth, Seth Surrett blooped a single into no-man's land in left field and tried to stretch it to a double but Elliot Good would collect the ball and turn to throw a strike at second base and cut him down.
- Yaworski would add an insurance run for the Blue Devils when he turned on a pitch in the bottom of the eighth and drove it over the right field fence to make it 7-4.
NOTES
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 56-33.
- With the win Sunday, CCSU has won 13 straight weekend conference series dating back to May 13-15, 2022.
- Yaworski made his first appearance of the season for CCSU and went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.
- Redahan also had a two-hit day with two RBIs and a run.
- The Central offense connected for five extra-base hits.
- The Blue Devils bullpen combined to toss 3.2 shutout innings, allowing just four hits.
