
Baseball Sweeps Le Moyne With 14-6 Win on Sunday
The Central Connecticut baseball team swept its Northeast Conference series against Le Moyne with a 14-6 win on Sunday at CCSU Baseball Field. The Blue Devils erased a three-run deficit with 12 runs over a three inning stretch to win its fifth straight conference game.
The Blue Devils travel to Coppin State for a three-game NEC series beginning on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Le Moyne would score three runs in the second inning to open the scoring. A two-run homer by Wyatt Patchett and a sac fly by Zach Brush made it 3-0.
- Michael Torniero would drive in a run with an RBI single in the bottom of the second, but Le Moyne got a run-scoring single from Brady Fureno in the third to make it 4-1.
- Luke Garofalo came on to pitch with two outs in the fourth inning. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning with an inning-ending double play. He wouldn't allow a runner past first base over his final two innings of work.
- CCSU batted around again in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to tie the game. Jeff Nicol drew a bases-loaded walk and Joe Rios hit a ground-rule two-run double to tie the game, 4-4.
- Central would bat around again in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs to take the lead. CCSU loaded the bases with no outs before a RBI-single by Gianno Merlonghi and a two-run triple by Colby Brouillette. Rios added a sacrifice and Torniero forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk before Aidan Redahan followed with a two-run hit to make it 11-4.
- Rios padded the lead with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. Le Moyne would get back two runs on a homerun in the top of the eighth inning, but Brouillette singled in his third run of the game to close out the scoring.
NOTES
- CCSU and Le Moyne were meeting for the first time as Division I opponents.
- Garofalo tossed 3.1 innings of shutout relief. He struck out one and scattered four hits.
- The Blue Devils collected 14 hits as a team and outscored the Dolphins, 28-10, in the series.
- Merlonghi went 4-for-5 and was one of five Central hitters with at least two hits in the game.
- Rios was 2-for-3 with five RBIs and hit his fifth home run of the season.
- Redahan went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
