Baseball Picked NEC Preseason Favorite by League Coaches
Central Connecticut was tabbed as the favorite in the 2024 Northeast Conference Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll it was announced on Monday. CCSU collected 10 first-place votes to top the poll conducted among the league's head coaches who were not able to vote for their own squad.
The Blue Devils are slated to open the 2024 season at the Central Virginia Classic against William & Mary on March 1.
Head coach Charlie Hickey is back to guide CCSU in his 26th season. He guided the Blue Devils to a 36-14 mark overall and a 25-5 record in conference play in 2024. Last season, CCSU won its eighth NEC tournament title under Hickey along with the regular-season crown, its first since 2006.
