Baseball Falls at Northeastern in 10 Innings
The Central Connecticut baseball team dropped a 10-9 non-conference contest in 10 innings at Northeastern on Tuesday in Brookline, MA. The Blue Devils would take a four-run lead after a five-run fifth inning, but the Huskies tied the game with two runs in the ninth and the winning run in extra innings.
The Blue Devils return to Northeast Conference play with a three-game series at Stonehill beginning Thursday.

KEY MOMENTS
- The teams traded scoring in the third inning. Jeff Nicol opened the scoring with a solo homerun to left with two outs to make it 1-0.
- In the bottom of the third, the Huskies drew two walks to open the inning. A single by Mike Sirota drove in a run to tie the game, 1-1. Alex Lane followed with a three-run homer to left center to make it 4-1.
- CCSU got two runs back in the fourth inning. Antonio Ducatelli drew a lead off walk and was followed by Joe Rios' homerun to left to make it 4-3.
- Central tied it in the fifth after back-to-back singles by Aidan Redahan and Jeff Nicol to begin the inning. After moving up on a wild pitch, Redahan scored on a sacrifice fly by Derek Haughey to make it 4-4. The Blue Devils kept the inning going with back-to-back walks to load the bases. Following a pitching change, Elliot Good would clear the bases with his second homerun of the year to make it 8-4.
- The Huskies would cut the deficit to 8-7 with three runs in the seventh inning. Sirota would hit a bases loaded groundout to plate the first run. A sacrifice fly drove in another run before a double by Jack Doyle rounded out the inning.
- Josh Taylor doubled with one out in the eighth for CCSU. He moved to third on a single by Short and would score on a sacrifice bunt by Hunter Pasqualini to make it 9-7.
- Luke Beckstein led off the ninth with a solo homerun for the Huskies. A double, followed by an intentional walk and a double steal put runners on second and third with one out. Doyle would hit a fly to centerfield that plated the tying run.
- In the bottom of the 10th, Northeastern loaded the bases with two outs Doyle would work an eight-pitch at bat and draw a walk to force in the winning run.
NOTES
- Northeastern leads the all-time series, 24-11.
- Rios finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
- Nicol had two hits for the second straight game and scored two runs with an RBI.
- Good's grand slam was the first for CCSU since March 24, 2023 when Joe Rios hit one.
- Northeastern took advantage of drawing 15 base on balls by CCSU hurlers.
