Richardson, Morabito Named NEC Spring Scholar Athletes
Blue Devils had 96 student-athletes earn Academic Honor Roll honors
Central Connecticut track and field distance runner Brooke Morabito and lacrosse midfielder Talie Richardson were named 2024 Northeast Conference Spring Scholar-Athletes. Morabito takes home the award for the second time this season for her excellence on the track, while it is the first honor for Richardson.
The conference also released its spring Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Honor Roll recipients, which included 33 CCSU student-athletes Commissioner's Honor Roll on the academic list and 96 on the Academic Honor Roll, representing CCSU men's and women's indoor track and field, lacrosse, baseball and softball.

Morabito, a New Milford, CT native, earned MVP honors at the 2024 NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, as well as earning the Most Outstanding Distance Runner award at the meet. She was named the Indoor Track and Field Winter Scholar Athlete, after picking up Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer (Distance) plaudits to help the Blue Devils seal their third straight NEC indoor crown title. At the outdoor championship, the New Milford High School product earned gold in the 1500, 5000 and 10K races. Named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll for the sixth time, Morabito also earned NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition this spring. After compiling a 3.64 grade point average as an undergraduate majoring in Psychological Science, she currently maintains a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her Master's in Counselor Education.
Richardson, a native of Southington, CT, earned the Spring Scholar Athlete award following a Second-Team All-NEC performance in 2024. She set a school record with 85 draw controls during the spring campaign. She was also the team leader in goals (20) and caused turnovers (16). A graduate of Southington High School, Richardson earned her degree in management in three years, boasting a 3.93 GPA.
All scholar-athlete honorees must have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours at their institution, maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 and participated with distinction as a member of a varsity team.
Along with the scholar-athletes, the NEC announced its Winter Academic Honor Roll, consisting of ____ student-athletes with a 3.20 or better grade point average. There were also ____ student-athletes named to the Winter Commissioner's Honor Roll, recognizing those superior student-athletes with a 3.75 or better grade point average. That figure was the fourth-most in league annals.
