Baseball Drops Series-Opener at Sacred Heart
The Central Connecticut baseball team had its five-game Northeast Conference win streak snapped with a 5-1 setback at Sacred Heart on Friday in Bridgeport, CT. The Blue Devils got a homerun from Hunter Pasqualini, but were limited to just seven hits by the first-place Pioneers..
The teams continue the series on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Pioneers took the lead early, scoring two runs in each of the opening two innings. In the first Zack Kovalchick doubled in the opening run, before coming home on a bases-loaded hit by pitch. SHU would push its lead to 4-0 after a two-run homerun by Dante D'Amore in the second.
- CCSU would load the bases with no outs in the second inning, but Jake Babuschak would strike out three straight to escape the inning.
- Pasqualini would hit a two-out homerun to left field in the top of the fourth to make it 4-1. Dan Hussey followed with a double, but would be stranded in scoring position.
- Sacred Heart tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and would allow just one CCSU runner to reach second base over the final four frames to close out the win.
NOTES
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 60-44.
- Pasqualini went 2-4 and was the only Blue Devil with more than one hit.
- Hussey and Elliot Good each had a double for Central
- Jake Neuman started for CCSU and went 5.0 innings. He struck out four batters.
- Drew Munn tossed 3.0 shutout innings, allowing just one hit with four whiffs.
