
Spizzoucco's Complete Game Leads Baseball by FDU, 16-2
The Central Connecticut baseball team scored a season-high in a 16-2 win at FDU in Northeast Conference action on Saturday. The Blue Devils built a nine-run lead in the fifth inning for Vincent Spizzoucco who tossed a complete-game in his second start of the season.
The teams conclude the series on Sunday with a game at 1:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Knights got two hits, including an RBI-single from Justin Sierra, in the second inning, but that would Spizzoucco would only allow two hits from then on until the ninth inning.
- The Blue Devils took advantage of back-to-back errors in the third inning to take the lead. After the first two batters reached base in the inning, another miscue allowed Joe Rios to score and tie the game. Gianno Merlonghi followed with a two-run double to make it 3-1.
- In the fourth, Aidan Redahan doubled in Dan Hussey before Merlonghi connected for his second double of the day to plate two more runs and make it 6-1.
- After a groundout to open the fifth inning, CCSU would collect three straight hits, including a two-run single by Elliot Good. Aidan Redahan followed, two batters later, with a homerun to push the lead to 10-1.
- CCSU led off the eighth with a walk and Brady Short tripled the runner home. Merlonghi followed with a groundout for his fifth RBI of the day before Jeff Nicol hit a solo home run.
- Central added three more runs in the ninth inning to close out the scoring. A fielding error would allow two runners to score before Nicol drove in a run on a sac fly to make it 16-1.
- Spizzoucco would retire FDU in order in five innings after allowing a run in the second inning. FDU managed to scratch out two hits in the ninth inning with Sierra singling in his second run of the game.

- The Blue Devils scored a season-high 16 runs.
- Spizzoucco went the distance and allowed just two runs on seven hits. He struck out nine and walked two. He faced just 34 hitters in the game, while collecting CCSU's third complete game of the season.
- Merlonghi drove in five runs on a 3-for-6 day. He finished with two doubles.
- Redahan drove in three runs, while Short, Nicol and Good each had two RBIs.
- Short, Hussey and Redahan each scored three times for CCSU.
