Baseball Drops Series Finale in Extras at Norfolk State
The Central Connecticut baseball team lost in extra-innings at Norfolk State, 5-4, in the Northeast Conference series finale on Sunday. The Blue Devils built a three-run lead in the game, but the Spartans would tie the game in the ninth before winning in the 11th.
Central plays a non-conference game at Quinnipiac on Tuesday afternoon.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Elliot Good drew a one-out walk and moved to second on a ground out. He would score on a single through the left side by Colby Brouillette.
- The Blue Devils tacked on two runs in the fifth inning. With one out, Brouillette doubled and Joe Rios singled on back-to-back at bats. Michael Torniero would hit a sacrifice fly to plate Brouillette and with two outs, Brady Short hit a bunt single that plated Rios to make it 3-0.
- Norfolk State got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the sixth inning. The Spartans opened the frame with back-to-back hits and a single by Jalan Jones drove in the first run before a sac fly by Cam Mazell made it 3-2.
- In the top of the ninth, Derek Haughey doubled with one out and was then pinch run for. An infield single by Brouillette moved Antonio Ducatelli to third base. Rios would give CCSU a two-run lead with a sac fly to right field.
- The Spartans would force extra innings with two runs in the bottom of the frame. NSU had runners on first and second with two outs before a walk loaded the bases and extended the inning. Collin Curry would single through the right side to score two runs and tie the game at 4-4.
- Norfolk state completed the rally with a run in the 11th. Raphael Rodriguez hit a one-out double to right field before moving to third on a fly out. He would score the winning run on a single by Jamal Ritter.
NOTES
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 5-1.
- Munn started for Central and tossed 6.0 innings, but did not figure in the decision. He struck out four, while allowing two runs on five hits.
- Brouillette had four hits, including a double for CCSU. He drove in a run and scored another.
- Short and Hunter Pasqualini had two hits apiece.
