Eberhardt Earns NEC Weekly Honor
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt broke her second CCSU outdoor record of the season this week at the Penn Relays.
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt of the Central Connecticut women's track and field team earned the NEC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor for her record-breaking performance at the Penn Relays this week, the league announced Tuesday.
Eberhardt earned the No. 1 seed in the steeplechase for the upcoming weekend's NEC Outdoor Championships. The third-year Blue Devil claimed the bronze medal competing in the Penn Relays College Division after crossing the line in 10:37.64. Eberhardt's time, which moved her past Sacred Heart's Brianna Castrogivanni on the NEC leader board, is the second-fastest in league history. Coming in more than 17 seconds better than the ECAC Championship qualifying standard, Eberhardt's performance is second only to the 10:29.27 SHU's Katie Wrinkle ran in 2004.
Eberhardt's performance this week also earned her a spot in the CCSU outdoor record book for the second time this season. She and the rest of the Blue Devils will head to the NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Monmouth this weekend, May 4-5, in West Long Branch, NJ.
