Tuttle Takes First in 400H at Holy Cross
The Blue Devils placed fourth out of seven teams at the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday.
The Central Connecticut women's track and field team placed fourth out of seven teams at the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday in Worcester, MA. The Blue Devils were led by junior Shelby Tuttle, who placed first in the 400 meter hurdles with her time of 1:03.74. CCSU also competed at the LSU Alumni Gold where junior Ronea Saunders took third in the high jump, clearing 1.71 meters.

Tuttle also performed well in the 100 meter hurdles. She earned a bronze medal in the event, crossing the finish line in 14.44 seconds. She was followed by senior Dara Edge who came in ninth with her time of 15.60.
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt also earned a bronze medal in the 1,500m. She earned a new personal record of 4:40.88 and topped her previous best time in the 800 meter run as well to total four new personal records so far this season. She crossed the finish line in 2:20.17 for 11th place out of 40 competitors.
In the 100 meter dash, junior Cassey Griffith finished third with her time of 12.31 seconds for a new personal best. She was followed by senior Rachel Dombrowski who placed ninth in 12.73 seconds, registering her own personal-best time in the event.
Griffith also earned fourth place in the 200 meter dash with her time of 25.73. She was followed by freshman Alyssa Gonzalez in sixth and Dombrowski in ninth.
In the field events, freshman Chelse Terry placed fourth in the discus throw, registering a distance of 37.04m, and sixth in the shot put with a personal-best distance of 11.65m.
Additional top-10 performances by CCSU include sophomores Alessandra Salmon and Chantelle Deer who placed sixth and eighth in the 400m, respectively. Senior Ahj Meeks and freshman Erin Howe also earned top-10 spots in both the high jump and the triple jump events.
Holy Cross topped the meet with 209 points. UMASS Amherst placed second (168.50) followed by Maine (159). The Blue Devils earned 66 points followed by Stone Hill, Hartford and Bryant.
Central will return to action April 25-27 in the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA.
