Women 8th, Saunders Named Outstanding Field Performer
Saunders wins high jumps and claims fifth in long jump
The Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field squad finished eighth at the 2013 Northeast Conference Indoor Championships which completed on Sunday. The Blue Devils tallied a total of 37 points in the meet. The Championships took place at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, MD.

Sophomore Ronea Saunders was named the Outstanding Field Performer after winning the high jump on Saturday and finishing fifth in the long jump on Sunday. Her high jump of 5 feet 7 inches came in a jump-off, and she earned 10 points for her team on Saturday. It was an ECAC qualifying jump.
Saunders followed up that performance with a fifth place finish in the long jump, registering 5.34 meters and four more points.
Junior Krisztina Dearborn followed up her sixth place performance in the 3,000 meter run on Saturday with an impressive fourth place performance in the 5,000 meter run on Sunday. Dearborn's time of 17:45.66 earned her team five points.
Junior Elizabeth Eberhardt finished fourth in the one-mile run with a time of 5:12.47. She also earned five points for her performance. Junior Shelby Tuttle, the school-record holder in the 60 meter hurdles, finished fourth with a time of 8.99 seconds. She had qualified with a time of 8.97 on Saturday, and earned her team four points.
Finally, the Blue Devils picked up five points in a pair of relay events. They finished sixth in the 4x400 meter relay, with a time of 4:03.54. The team included freshman Alyssa Gonzalez, senior Rachel Dombroski, sophomore Chantelle Deer and Tuttle.
The distance medlay relay comprised on sophomores Shannon McBride, Taylor LePage, Alessandra Salmon and Eberhardt finished seventh with a time of 12:35.23 and earned two points.
