
Softball Drops A Pair To UAlbany
Blue Devils Return To NEC Play At FDU On Friday
The Central Connecticut State softball team fell in both ends of a home non-conference doubleheader against the visiting UAlbany Great Danes on Tuesday afternoon, as the Blue Devils were defeated in game one, 9-0 in five innings, and dropped game two, 2-0. With the two losses, CCSU is now 12-19 overall, and with the two wins, the Great Danes move to 13-15 on the season.

KEY MOMENTS TUESDAY'S GAME ONE:
- After a scoreless first inning, UAlbany opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the second inning and followed that up with four more markers in the third to grab a 7-0 lead.
- The Great Danes added two more runs in the top of the fifth to take the run-rule victory after the fifth inning, as they held Central off the scoreboard.
- CCSU could only manage two hits in the opener; a single by Victoria Oliveira and double by Kristina Bozek.
- Gracie Granate (0-3) started game one in the pitching circle and took the loss working three innings. Adrianna Green worked the final two innings in relief.
KEY MOMENTS TUESDAY'S NIGHTCAP:
- After two scoreless frames to open the contest, UAlbany scored a run in the top of the third inning on a bloop single to leftfield.
- The Great Danes would make the score 2-0 with an unearned run in the fifth inning.
- Alina Varga (5-8) was the hard-luck loser in game two for CSSU, as she pitched extremely well firing a complete game in which she allowed only five hits and one earned run with four strikeouts and only one walk.
- Ashlyn Desaulniers had two of the Blue Devils' three hits in game two, and Abby Meehan had the other.
