CCSU Has Blasted Five Home Runs In Four Games So far In 2025
The Central Connecticut State softball team continued its season-opening road trip to the State of South Carolina and the Buccanner Classic hosted by Charleston Southern University, and for the second straight day, the Blue Devils (0-4) lost a pair of games to the Seahawks of UNC Wilmington and host Charleston Southern. CCSU opened the day with an tough, eight-inning, 4-2 loss to the Seahawks and completed the day with a 7-4 defeat at the hands of Charleston Southerm.

KEY MOMENTS VERSUS UNC WILMINGTON
- Playing as the home team for the first time this season, the Blue Devils trailed 1-0 heading to the bottom of third inning when they took a 2-1 lead on a solo homer to left by Skylar Warn and another solo round tripper to center Kassandra (KC) Machado, her second big fly of the season.
- The Seahawks would tie the game at 2-2 with an RBI fielders choice in the top of the sixth.
- The game remained tied into extra innings when UNC Wilmington plated a pair runs on a two-out, bases loaded double in the top of the eighth.
- Alina Varga (0-2) pitched her second straight complete game, working eight innings in which she allowed only five hits, four runs (three earned) with four strikeouts and nine bases on balls.
KEY MOMENTS VERSUS CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
- Trailing 2-0 heading into the top of the fourth, CCSU's Skylar Warn stayed hot at the plate as she drove in a run with an RBI, two-base hit.
- The host Buccanners broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Blue Devils closed the gap to 7-4 with three runs in the top of the sixth inning when Reagan Vunak clubbed a solo home run, and Sophia LoPiccolo had a two-RBI single.
- Vunak and Warn led a seven-hit attack for CCSU versus Charleston Southern, as they each had two hits in Saturday's nightcap.
- CCSU has hit five home runs as a team in just four games played so far in 2025.
