"Our NGWSD clinic and celebration is one of the highlights of our season," said CCSU Director of Athletics Tom Pincince. "It is an invaluable experience for the participants who are able to envision what they are able to accomplish by spending a few hours with our student-athletes. And the enjoyment that our student-athletes have from sharing their passion for their sport with the next generation is inspirational."
CCSU female student-athletes will host activity stations to introduce participants to soccer, track and field, volleyball, softball, cheer, dance and lacrosse, as well as a craft and poster making station. Attendees are invited to attend at two Blue Devil sporting events following the clinic. The CCSU women's basketball team will host Le Moyne at 1:00 pm, while the Blue Devils swimming & diving team hosts Rhode Island at 2:00 pm for its Senior Day meet.
National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) began in 1987 as a special day in our nation's capital to recognize women's sports. The day united premiere organizations and elite women athletes to bring national attention to the promise of girls and women in sports. This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power. The confidence, strength and character gained through sports participation are the very tools girls and women need to become strong leaders in sports and life.
