
Blue Devils Take Series From Mercyhurst With A 4-1 Sunday Victory
Win Lifts CCSU'S NEC Mark To 10-5 So In 2025
Kassandra (KC) Machado slugged her ninth home run of the season and Liz Hamilton picked up her tenth win of the season on Sunday, as the CCSU softball team earned a 4-1 Northeast Conference road win over the host Mercyhurst College Lakers in Erie, Pennsylvania. With the victory that gives Central the series victory, the Blue Devils are now 15-24 overall and 10-5 in the NEC. Mercyhurst is now 4-25 overall and 2-13 in conference play.

KEY MOMENTS FROM SATURDAY'S WIN:
- As they did in all three games over the weekend, Mercyhurst opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first inning.
- The Blue Devils quickly knotted the game at 1-1 in the top of the second when Kassandra (KC) Machado launched a solo home run to lead off the top the second. Machado now leads the team in homers with nine and runs batted in with 22 so far this season.
- The game would remained tied at 1-1 until the top of the fifth when CCSU capitalized on a pair of Mercyhurst errors to score three runs to take a 4-1 lead, as Joslyn Teal and Ashley Viesta drove in runs in the inning.
- Reagan Vunak and Grace Lawton each had doubles for Central on Sunday.
- Ashlyn Desaulniers stole two bases and Reagan Vunak swiped her team-leading ninth base in Sunday's victory.
- Liz Hamilton earned her second win of the weekend on Sunday to raise her season record to 10-5. In her seven innings of work, Hamilton allowed only a first inning run on seven hits with a career-high 11 strikeouts and four walks.

- The Blue Devils open their final regular season Northeast Conference home series of the 2025 season this Friday, April 18 when CCSU hosts the Stonehill College Skyhawks in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader. The two teams will close out their three-game series the next day with a 12 noon single game on Saturday.
