
Softball Back In The Win Column With 6-2 Victory Over Maine
KC Machado And Liz Hamilton Star On The Afternoon
A grand slam home run by Kassandra (KC) Machado in the top of the fourth inning and 5.1 sparkling innings pitched in relief by Liz Hamilton helped lift the Central Connecticut State University softball team to a 6-2 win over the University of Maine Black Bears in both squads final game at the three-day 2025 Yale University Softball Classic. The win, which snaps a four-game losing skid for CCSU, ups the Blue Devils' season record to 3-12. Maine is now 4-14 so far this season.

KEY MOMENTS FROM SUNDAY'S WIN:
- After the Black Bears took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a misplayed fly ball by the Blue Devils' outfield, Central quickly tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second on a bases-loaded infield single by Ashlyn Desaulniers.
- Maine took a 2-1 lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the third, but CCSU bounced back to grab a 5-2 lead in the top of the fourth on a two-out grand slam home run to left-centerfield by Kassandra (KC) Machado. KC now has struck a total of four home runs so far this season.
- Central added another run in the top of the fifth to wrap up all the scoring in the contest, when Ava Cino singled to shortstop, and Ashley Viesta came home to score on the play when the throw to first bounced away.
- Cino and Skylar Warn each had two hits in Sunday's win, as CCSU had eight hits as a team.
- Liz Hamilton (2-3) was stellar out the Central bullpen in relief of Sunday's starter Gracie Granate. Hamilton earned the win allowing only an unearned run in 5.1 innings pitched. On the day, Liz allowed only two hits with three strikeouts during her time in the circle.
