
Softball Falls At Fairfield, 6-1
CCSU Returns To NEC Action On Friday And Saturday Hosting St. Francis
Stepping out of Northeast Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, the CCSU softball team saw its four-game winning streak snapped with a 6-1 road loss to in-state rival Fairfield University. With the defeat, the Blue Devils now stand at 10-16 overall, and Fairfield moves to 9-16 on the season with the victory.

KEY MOMENTS FROM WEDNESDAY'S ACTION:
- Fairfield opened the scoring in the contest with a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI-groundout after a single and a double.
- Kassandra (KC) Machado tied things up for the Blue Devils at 1-1 in the top of the third inning with a ringing double to left that scored Abby Meehan, who had a two-base hit to open the frame.
- The host Stags took the lead right back at 2-1 with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the third and would go on to add three more runs to lead 5-1 after three innings of play.
- Fairfield added a run on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the fourth to up its advantage to 6-1.
- As a team, the Blue Devils, who total six hits on the day, also got base knocks from Joslyn Teal, Grace Lawton, Ashley Viesta and Adriana Manory on Wednesday afternoon.
- Gracie Granate (0-2) took the loss on Wednesday, as she made her third start of the season working three innings. During her time in the circle, she allowed five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
- Adrianna Green worked three innings in relief in the circle for CCSU at Fairfield; allowing only one run on three hits.
NOTES:
- CCSU and Fairfield split their two games this season, as the Blue Devils topped the Stags, 5-4, in New Britain on March 11 before today's defeat.
UP NEXT:
- The Blue Devils return to Northeast Conference action with an important weekend home series against Saint Francis University. The games will now be played on Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29. Friday's action will be a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader; followed by a single game at 12 noon on Saturday.
