
Liz Hamilton Blanks Saint Francis For The Second Straight Day, 2-0
Blue Devils Take The Series From The Red Flash With Saturday's Win
For the second straight day, CCSU's Liz Hamilton dominated in the pitching circle, as she fired her second shutout in as many days on Saturday, as the host Blue Devils defeated the visiting Red Flash of Saint Francis University, 2-0, to win the rubber match of an important Northeast Conference series. Hamilton blanked Saint Francis on Friday by an identical 2-0 score on five hits. Saturday's win ups Central's overall record to 12-17, and their NEC mark to 7-2. SFU is now 14-17 overall and also 7-2 in conference action.

KEY MOMENTS SATURDAY'S CCSU VICTORY:
- The game was scoreless into the bottom of the third inning when the Blue Devils scored their first run of the day without the benefit of hit when Adriana Manory walked to open the frame, stole second, moved to third on a ground out by Ashlyn Desaulniers and scored on an RBI-groundout by Ashley Viesta.
- The game stayed at 1-0 in favor of CCSU until the bottom of sixth when Kassandra (KC) Machado added an important insurance run when she lined her eighth home run of the season, a solo blast off the leftfield foul pole. Machado now has 20 career home runs in a CCSU uniform.
- After her shutout on Friday, Liz Hamilton spun her second straight gem on Saturday to raise her season record to 7-3, as she blanked Saint Francis on only four hits with eight strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. In her back-to-back shutouts over SFU on Friday Saturday, Liz allowed only nine hits in 14 innings pitched with 13 strikeouts and six walks.
- As a team, CCSU totaled eight hits in Saturday's victory with a trio of Blue Devils finished the day with a pair of base knocks in Ashlyn Desaulniers, Abby Meehan and Skylar Warn.
