Abby Meehan And Joslyn Teal Drive In Runs For CCSU
The Central Connecticut State softball team got back on the diamond on Wednesday afternoon for the first time since February 15 in South Carolina, as the Blue Devils traveled down I-91 to face in-state rival, Yale University, and the host Bulldogs used a pair of five-run innings to defeat CCSU, 12-2, in five innings. Central is now 0-5 on the young 2025 season; while Yale moves to 2-4 overall

KEY MOMENTS FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
- The host Bulldogs got on the board quickly with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI-single and a bases loaded hit by pitch.
- Yale scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning keyed by two home runs.
- Abby Meehan cut the Yale lead to 7-1 in the top of the fourth inning when she plated Reagan Vunak, who drew two walks on the day, with an RBI-double.
- The hosts put the game away with their second five-run inning of the afternoon in the bottom of the fourth.
- Joslyn Teal picked up her first run batted in of 2025 for the Blue Devils in the top of the fifth inning with a double that scored pinch runner Matison Piripavel.
- Morgan Goodspeed had CCSU's other base knock at Yale with a pinch hit single.
IN THE PITCHING CIRCLE
- Alina Varga (0-3) started for CCSU and took the loss working 1.3 innings, in which she allowed five runs on three hits, with three walks and one strikeout.
- Adrianna Green finished the game for the Blue Devils working 2.2 innings, in which she allowed seven runs on five hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
NOTES
- CCSU will return to Yale's 5K Corrall Field At DeWitt Family Stadium in a little over a week to compete in the 2025 Yale Softball Classic that will take place on March 7-8-9 and feature the University of Maine and Sacred Heart, as well as Blue Devils and the host Bulldogs.
