Niman Earns ABCA/Rawlings Northeast All-Region First Team Honors

Niman added another accolade to his season, which already included Second Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, NEIBA All-New England Pitcher of the Year and Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year. On the season, Niman went 12-2 with a 2.77 ERA. He set the program record for victories in a season (12), while also tossing a program-record 104.0 innings. Niman won his first seven starts of the season and allowed more than three earned runs just twice, while going at least 5.0 innings in all 15 of his starts. Niman ranked among the national leaders in victories (2nd), WHIP (23rd, 1.08), ERA (29th), strikeouts (72nd, 94), games started (72nd, 15), hits allowed per nine innings (84th, 7.44), and walks allowed per nine innings (96th, 2.25). In 10 conference starts, Niman went 9-1 with a 2.41 ERA and posted 60 strikeouts, against just 18 walks, in 71.0 innings pitched.
The NEC Tournament MVP, Niman helped toss CCSU into the NCAA Tournament, going 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA across 16.0 innings at the Northeast Conference tournament. In CCSU's first game of the postseason, he struckout a career-high 14 hitters over 7.0 innings in a 5-2 win over Sacred Heart. On two-days' rest, Niman then hurled a complete game in the decisive title game, helping Central to a 12-3 win over Wagner.
First Team All-Region selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 16 prior to the start of the 2023 NCAA Div. I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
