KEY MOMENTS
- FDU took a two-run lead with runs in the third and fourth inning. Joan Sosa hit a one-out single before moving to third on an infield hit and error. He would score on a wild pitch to make it 1-0. In the fourth inning, TJ Werner singled with two outs and came around to score on a double by Sosa to make it 2-0.
- The Blue Devils tied the game in the fourth inning after Ramon Jimenez led off with a single through the middle. He would come around two batters later on a two-run blast to left field by Jeff Nicol to make it 2-2.
- With two outs in the sixth inning, CCSU would push across a pair of runs. Mike Torniero was hit by a pitch and Jimmy Sullivan followed with a double to center field. Torniero raced around the bases and scored after obstruction was called at home. Elliot Good followed with a double to left field to plate Sullivan and make it 4-2.
- Sosa scored on a sacrifice fly by Tom Ruscitti in the seventh to get FDU within a run. The Knights put runners on first and second with one out in the eighth. Luke Garofalo came on for the Blue Devils to get a strikeout before inducing an inning-ending foul out with the bases loaded.
- Nicol walked to lead off the eighth for CCSU and scored on a homerun by Sullivan to give the Blue Devils a pair of insurance runs to make it 6-3.
NOTES
- The Blue Devils have won seven straight meetings against the Knights.
- Sullivan drove in three runs, going 2-for-4 with a pair of extra-base hits, including his first homerun at CCSU.
- Nicol drove in two runs and hit his first homerun since March 22, when he had two against Fairfield.
- Good extended his hitting streak to 19 games with an RBI double in the sixth inning.
- Jake Neuman won his fourth straight decision, tossing 7.0 inning. He allowed three runs on seven hits, while striking out eight.
- Garofalo recorded his 11th career save to pass Neuman on the CCSU career list and move into fourth place.
