Jimenez Collects NEC Player of the Week Honors

Central Connecticut infielder Ramon Jimenez was named Northeast Conference Baseball Player of the Week it was announced Tuesday. The honor was the second time this season he has been selected as the league's top performer.
Jimenez was solid again last week, batting .333 with a .438 on-base pct. and 1.083 slugging pct. to help the Blue Devils sweep a NEC series at Merrimack. He mashed three homeruns, drove in eight RBIs and scored five runs. Jimenez went 2-for-4 with a homerun and five RBIs in Saturday's win at Merrimack and then went 2-for-4 with two homers, three RBIs and three runs on Sunday. He is leading the league in RBIs per game (1.48), ranks second in RBIs (40), and ranks third in home runs per game (0.30) and slugging percentage (.695).

Jimenez was joined on the league's prime performer list by teammates Dominic Niman and Dan Hussey. Niman won his seventh start of the season with a complete game, 10-strikeout effort at Merrimack. Hussey hit a trio of homeruns, including a two-home run effort in the series finale against the Warriors.
The Blue Devils begin a three-game conference series against Coppin State on Friday.
