Baseball Shuts Down Bryant in Win on Saturday
The Central Connecticut baseball team bounced back with a 6-4 win over Bryant on Saturday in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils pitchers struck out 13 batters, while Jimmy Sullivan and Elliot Good each drove in two runs for the offense.

The Blue Devils are back into Northeast Conference action on May 12 at LIU.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils scored a run in the second inning after Derek Haughey reached on an error to open the inning. He moved to second on a single by Mike Torniero and advanced to third on a ground out. Elliot Good would drive him in with a sacrifice bunt to make it 1-0.
- Bryant got a two-out single from Zac Zyons in the top of the third to extend the inning. He came around to score on a triple by Jake Gustin to make it 1-1.
- In the fourth CCSU would break the game open with four runs. Haughey led off with a walk and scored two batters later on a homerun to right field by Jimmy Sullivan. Good and Brady Short followed with back-to-back singles. Following a fly-out, Ramon Jimenez hit a single through the middle to plate a run and make it 4-1. Following a pitching change, Joe Rios doubled down the line in right field to score short and make it a 5-1 game.
- The Bulldogs took advantage of an error to plate a run in the top of the fifth, but Good would double home Sullivan in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-2.
- Bryant got two runs in the eighth inning when Derek Smith homered to right field to make it 6-4, but Luke Garofalo would come on and retire the final five hitters.
NOTES
- The former NEC rivals met eight times over the last three NEC tournaments. CCSU defeated Bryant in the final game in 2019 and 2021 championships. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series, 48-19.
- Garofalo tied the single-season CCSU record with his 10th save of the season.
- The Blue Devils pitchers combined for a season-high 13 strikeouts.
- Neuman allowed one earned run over 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts. He walked one and gave up just three hits.
- Sullivan went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
- Good had two hits and drove in two runs.
