Senior Sara DeLacey and junior Emily Cochran named to the All-NEC Second Team.
Senior Sara DeLacey and junior Emily Cochran were honored as Second Team All-Northeast Conference selections on Friday night at the annual pre-tournament banquet. DeLacey and Cochran have helped lead the Blue Devils to a 20-10 regular season record and an 11-5 NEC mark that earned the Blue Devils the #3 seed in the NEC Tournament.
The 2009 NEC Rookie of the Year, Cochran posted big numbers during the 2011 campaign. She recorded 428 kills this season running her career total to 1,010. With a strong senior year, Cochran could find herself among the top-hitters in CCSU history.
In addition to being a leading hitter, Cochran is a complete player contributing on defense and in service. Cochran has posted 329 digs, 42 blocks and 22 aces this season. Those marks rank second, fifth and third on the team, respectively.
This is DeLacey's second consecutive season earning second team honors. In 111 sets this season, she has posted 241 kills on a .350 hitting percentage. Her kill total ranks third on the team and her hitting percentage is third in the NEC. DeLacey's .350 hitting percentage ranks among the top-10 single-season marks in program history.
Defensively, she has totaled a team-high 107 blocks this season.
