Cochran and Schumacher earned Molten/NEC weekly honors
Junior Emily Cochran and freshman Brittany Schumacher earned weekly honors from the Northeast Conference on Monday afternoon. Cochran was named Molten/NEC Co-Player of the Week and Schumacher was recognized as Co-Defender of the Week. The Blue Devils went 3-0 last week sweeping a pair of NEC matches and taking a non-conference tilt from Hartford.
Cochran posted 66 kills in three matches, highlighted by a season high 27-kill and 20-dig performance against in-state rival Quinnipiac. The outside hitter averaged 4.17 kills per game for the week, bolstering her average to 3.70 per game to rank fourth in the league. Cochran also contributed 3.43 digs per game and added five blocks in a terrific all-around week.
Schumacher posted 64 digs on the week, propelling the Blue Devils to a 3-0 record and herself to weekly honors. The libero's best performance of the week was a 28-dig showing in a 3-2 victory over NEC rival Quinnipiac. She averaged 4.50 digs per game this past week, and ranks fourth in the NEC with 4.34 per game on the year.
At 17-9 and 8-4 in NEC play, the Blue Devils return home this weekend to take on Robert Morris and St. Francis (PA). The matches are the final regular season home games for the Blue Devils this season. Central has posted a 9-2 mark at home so far this season.
