Schumacher Earns NEC Volleyball Honor
Brittany Schumacher posted three double-digit dig performances over the weekend.
Central Connecticut freshman libero Brittany Schumacher was named Molten/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The announcement was made by the conference office in the weekly volleyball release. Schumacher helped the Blue Devils to a 2-1 finish at the Dartmouth Invitational over the weekend.
At the Dartmouth Invitational the Blue Devils posted a 2-1 record with victories over Delaware State and Providence. Schumacher provided excellent play throughout the weekend for the Blue Devils.
In the three set sweep of Delaware on Friday she recorded 17 digs while making only one receiving error. She followed that with a 14-dig performance against Dartmouth and 27 digs in the four set win over Providence on Saturday. In 10 sets over the weekend, Schumacher made only four reception errors while compiling 58 total digs. She is averaging 4.55 digs per set this season.
She also contributed to the offense over the weekend with six assists and three service aces, compared to a single service error.
A native of Hartford, Wisconsin, Schumacher has started every game this season at libero for the Blue Devils. The team currently boasts a 7-5 record on the season and over the last two weeks the Blue Devils have been even better posting a won/loss record of 5-1.
Schumacher and the Blue Devils will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Holy Cross at Detrick Gym. That game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
