Schumacher Earns Second NEC Honor
Freshman Brittany Schumacher earned Molten/Northeast Conference Defender of the Week honors.
Central Connecticut freshman Brittany Schumacher was named Molten/Northeast Conference Defender of the Week on Monday afternoon. The freshman libero from Hartford, Wisconsin, started all seven sets this weekend as the Blue Devils defeated Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis (NY).
Schumacher averaged 4.86 digs per set for the weekend after totaling 34 digs in the two games. She recorded 18 digs in Central's 3-0 sweep of FDU on Saturday and then posted a 16 dig performance against St. Francis (NY) on Sunday.
Her 34 digs this weekend raised her per set average to 4.20 for the season. That mark is the fourth best in the NEC this season.
This is Schumacher's second NEC weekly honor. She was named NEC Rookie of the Week earlier this season.
The Blue Devils are 14-7 this season and 6-2 in NEC play. Currently in third place in the conference standings, Central travels to Sacred Heart and Bryant this weekend.
