Volleyball Tops RMU, Sweeps PA Trip
Sara Delacey leads Blue Devils with 14 kills
The Central Connecticut volleyball team completed the weekend sweep on its trip to Western Pennsylvania on Sunday. Central topped Robert Morris 3-1 on Sunday, improving to 12-7 overall and 4-2 in Northeast Conference play.
CCSU won the first set 25-21, dropped the second 25-17, and then won game three 25-17 and game four 25-22. Central topped St. Francis (PA) in five sets on Saturday, giving them a two-match winning streak in league action.
Senior Sara Delacey paced the Blue Devil offense with a team-high 14 kills. As a squad the Blue Devils notched 61 kills and hit .226. Delacey had just two errors in the match, hitting .480 to pace Central.
Junior Emily Cochran added 13 kills and junior Blaike King had 12 as the Blue Devils won for the sixth time in eight matches.
Senior setter Danielle Gasser had 48 assists in the match, while adding 13 digs.
Defensively Central was led by Cochran's 20 digs, and 10 total team blocks. Freshman Emma Le Maitre had two block solos and five block assists. She added six kills. Six Blue Devils had at least six kills in the match.
Central returns home for two NEC matches next weekend. They will host Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday and St. Francis (NY) on Sunday.
