Central Connecticut senior volleyball player Sara DeLacey was named Molten/Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. The NEC office made the announcement in the conference's weekly release. DeLacey was a big part of the Blue Devils success on their recent trip to Robert Morris and St. Francis (PA).
DeLacey recorded 11 kills in Central's five set win over St. Francis (PA) on Saturday. She followed that with a 14 kill performance in the victory over Robert Morris on Sunday. During Sunday's match she posted a .480 hitting percentage which raised her season mark to a NEC best .362.
On defense, DeLacey also posted some big numbers over the weekend totaling 14 blocks. Nine of those came in the victory over St. Francis. For the season, she is averaging one block per game, good for the fourth highest mark in the NEC.
DeLacey, a second team All-NEC selection in 2010, has spent much of the 2011 season leading the NEC in hitting percentage. She is currently attacking at a .362 clip for the season. The Blue Devils hold the top-two spots on the NEC leader board in that category as junior Jamie Rademacher has posted a .360 hitting percentage this season.
The Blue Devils are currently tied for third in the NEC with a 4-2 record. Overall on the year Central is 12-7.
They return home this weekend to play Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis (NY). Both game will be played in Detrick Gym and are scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
