Volleyball Sweeps Holy Cross, 3-0
Sara Delacey hits .909 as Central moves to 4-0 at home
Senior Sara Delacey recorded 10 kills and hit .909 as the Central Connecticut volleyball team swept a home match with Holy Cross on Wednesday in New Britain. With the win the Blue Devils improve to 8-5 overall this season, they have won six of their last seven matches.
Central won the match 25-18, 25-23 and 25-21.
Holy Cross falls to 4-10 overall on the season. They had defeated the Blue Devils earlier in the season.
Delacey led four Blue Devils with at least 10 kills in the match. Central had 50 kills and only 16 errors and hit an impressive .304 in the three-set match.
Holy Cross hit just .155 on the night, with 32 kills and 14 errors.
Central's senior setter Danielle Gasser had a match-high 43 assists. She also added a pair of kills and six digs.
Junior Emily Cochran led the Blue Devil offense with 12 kills, while classmate Blaike King added 11 and Delacey and junior Jamie Rademacher each had 10.
Defensively freshman Brittany Schumacher led the way with a match-high 22 digs. King added 12 and sophomore Amelia Ashley had 11.
Central is now 4-0 at home this season with the victory. They return to action at home this weekend hosting Bryant and Quinnipiac in their first Northeast Conference matches of the season.
