Volleyball Participates in Walk MS Event
The Central Connecticut volleyball team walked in a funraising event for MS on Sunday, 4/22.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team participated in the 2012 Travelers Walk MS - Simsbury on Sunday, April 22. The Blue Devils joined hundreds of Connecticut residents for the walk, which was held at the Westminster School in Sumsbury. The event helped raise money for multiple sclerosis through the Connecticut Chapter of the National MS Society.
The Blue Devils joined their faculty mentor Mary Horan, Assistant Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, at the event. Horan is active in the MS Society, the Blue Devils participated in the event as part of Horan's "Neighbors and Friends" team.
In all, 12 Connecticut towns held Walk MS events on Sunday.
The Connecticut Chapter of the National MS Society raises funds through events such as walk MS, bike MS, MS Golf Classic, WAMS luncheons, MS Connecticut Citizen of The Year Gala, MS Dinner of Champions and many others, to ensure ongoing scientific research to find a cause, advanced treatments and a cure for multiple sclerosis. These funds also provide for vital programs and services offered by the chapter to the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents battling the potentially debilitating effects of MS. These programs and services include: information and referral, education, scholarship programs, health and wellness programs, family and social support services, programs designed to address accessibility issues, long-term care assistance and much more.
