Volleyball Beats FDU 3-0
The Central Connecticut volleyball team earned their first victory of the season on Saturday morning with a 3-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. The Blue Devils improved to 1-1 on the season with 25-9, 25-22 and 25-15 set victories.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team earned their first victory of the season on Saturday morning with a 3-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. The Blue Devils improved to 1-1 on the season with 25-9, 25-22 and 25-15 set victories. Central dominated the net with 16 blocks, six of which came from sophomore Jamie Rademacher.
Central started quickly building a 21-4 lead in the first set. Junior Emily Cochran landed four kills and Rademacher posted three of her six blocks in the set.
The Blue Devils were challenged by the Knights in the second set as they trailed 20-15 before going on a 10-2 run to win the set. Six Central hitters posted a kill in the set. Junior Allyson Rene' Porter posted a pair of kills and also contributed five digs in the set.
Central built a 22-11 lead in the third set behind five more kills from Cochran. Senior Danielle Gasser contributed 12 of her match-high 26 assists in the set. Fairleigh Dickinson made a small run to close the gap, but the Blue Devils held on for a 25-15 victory.
The Blue Devils will wrap-up the Beanpot Classic with a 12:30 p.m. match against co-host Northeastern.
