Volleyball Beats Quinnipiac in Five
Cochran recorded 27 kills in five sets against the Bobcats.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team defeated Quinnipiac in five sets on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils won three straight sets after falling to the Bobcats in the two opening frames. The victory improves Central's record to 17-9 and 8-4 in Northeast Conference play. Junior Emily Cochran finished with a match-high 27 kills for the Blue Devils.
The first two set of the match were extremely close, but the Blue Devils dropped both in extra points 27-25. The Blue Devils rallied to take control of the match with 25-17, 25-15 and 15-12 set victories.
Cochran attacked the net 66 times and recorded 27 kills. She had only six errors and posted a .318 hitting percentage for the match. Junior Jamie Rademacher led the Blue Devils with a .400 hitting percentage in the match. She picked up nine kills on 20 attacks with only one error.
Senior setter Danielle Gasser had a match-high 58 assists in the match. She surpassed the 1,000 assist plateau for the season during the match.
Freshman Emma Le Maitre led the Blue Devil defense at the net by contributing to five blocks. She was joined by senior Sara DeLacey who chipped in on four. Cochran and Rademacher also picked up a pair of blocks.
Freshman Brittany Schumacher led the way for the Blue Devils in receiving. She posted 28 digs, while Gasser and Cochran posted 24 and 20, respectively. Junior Allyson Rene Porter picked up 19 digs.
The Blue Devils will return to action with a pair of home games this weekend against Robert Morris and St. Francis (PA).
