GWU Sweeps Volleyball in Three Sets
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to George Washington in the final game of the George Washington Tournament on Saturday evening. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in the tournament.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to George Washington in the final game of the George Washington Tournament on Saturday evening. Central fell in straight sets to the Colonials. The loss drops the Blue Devils to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in the tournament.
The Blue Devils dropped the opening set of the match 25-14, and battled back in the second and third sets, but still fell. The second set ended 26-24 and the third 25-19.
The second set was the best for the Blue Devils. Central battled back from a deficit to tie the match at 24-24, but the Colonials pulled out the 26-24 victory. Junior Emily Cochran had four kills and a block in the set.
Junior Blaike King finished the match with a team-high 11 kills. She posted a .290 hitting percentage for the match. Senior Danielle Gasser had 29 assists in the match, also a team-high.
As a team the Blue Devils recorded 12 blocks. Junior Jennifer Waddill contributed to four of those blocks.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Friday when they host the opening games of the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational.
Senior Sara DeLacey earned All-Tournament Honors for her performance during the three game tournament.
