The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to UNC-Wilmington in four sets on Saturday morning. The Blue Devils dropped the match 3-1, with UNC-Wilmington taking the first two sets and then rebounding to capture the fourth. Central falls to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in the George Washington Tournament with the loss.
The Blue Devil offense in the first set came from senior Sara DeLacey who delivered three kills on four attacks. Her .750 hitting percentage was the top for a Blue Devil in the set. Junior Emily Cochran also delivered three kills and three digs.
DeLacey contributed another three kills in the second set. Helping on most of those was fellow senior Danielle Gasser who had 11 assists in the second.
Central captured the third set behind six kills from Cochran and another four from junior Jennifer Waddill. Waddill's kills came on seven attacks while committing no errors. Gasser added another 11 assists in the third set.
Cochran finished the match with a team-high 14 kills. DeLacey had a match-high .667 hitting percentage and Gasser posted a match-high 42 assists in the loss.
The Blue Devils don't have to wait long to rebound. They return to action tonight against the host, George Washington.
