CCSU Wraps Up Day 1 of Blue Devil Invite
The CCSU swimming and diving team wrapped up day one of the Blue Devil Invitational Friday evening with six top-five performances.
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team completed day one of the Blue Devil Invitationals on Friday evening. The Blue Devils capped off the day with six top-five performances and senior Taylor Friedmann earned the solo victory for Central. She took first in the 500 yard freestyle event with a time of 5:00.92.
Friedmann was followed by senior Allison Rasile in the event. She finished in fifth place with a time of 5:08.04.
Senior Katie Lang also turned in an solid performance for the Blue Devils as she finished third in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:10.28 after taking fourth in the prelims.
Both Lang and Friedmann, along with juniors Erin Massey and Kellen Power, took fourth in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing in 1:40.96. They were followed by sophomore Karen Novak, freshman Alaina Papiro and seniors Lauren Shortell and Rasile who completed the event in sixth with a time of 1:44.47.
The Blue Devils also took fourth in the 400 yard medley relay. The team consisted of Friedmann, Lang and Rasile, as well as freshman Julie Hansen. The foursome turned in a time of 4:02.86. Massey, Papiro and Power, along with senior Hannah Packer, came in sixth in the event with a time of 4:08.29.
After placing fourth and fifth in the preliminaries from the 1-meter diving board, freshman Jessica Goldman and sophomore Kate Dwyer completed day one competition in fourth and sixth, respectively. Goldman earned a score of 198.65 in the finals and Dwyer tallied 196.85.

The Blue Devils will return to the pool tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 1, for more preliminary action at 10 a.m. followed by day two finals at 6 p.m.
