CCSU Finishes 3rd at Blue Devil Invite
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team finished third after the third and final day of the Blue Devil Invitationals Sunday.
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team finished third at the Blue Devil Invitational Sunday at the Jack Suydam Natatorium in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils finished the meet with a score of 1120.5 points, compared to Vermont's 1912 and Wagner's 1636.5. Central topped Sacred Heart, however, who came in with a score of 270.
In the first event of the evening, the 1650 yard freestyle, junior Kasey Chilton earned a third-place finish. She touched the wall in 17:26.90. Chilton was followed by sophomore Karen Novak, who completed the event in 17:52.75 for sixth place.
After finishing seventh in the preliminaries, junior Helene Neuhaus took third in the 200 yard backstroke in the finals. She finished the event in 2:06.81. In sixth for the Blue Devils in the event was senior Alison Rasile who touched the wall in 2:10.73.
Neuhaus also finished in the top ten in the 100 yard freestyle. She earned seventh place with a time of 54.02. Neuhaus was followed by junior Erin Massey in ninth (54.77) and senior Taylor Friedmann who finished 11th (54.78).
Senior Katie Lang earned another top-five finish for the Blue Devils taking fourth in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.77. Friedmann finished not far behind in sixth with a time of 2:15.48.
In the final event of the night, CCSU earned a third place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay finishing in 3:35.58. The team consisted of Massey, Neuhaus, Friedmann and junior Kellen Power.
From the 3-Meter diving board, CCSU came in fourth and fifth. Freshman Jessica Goldman took fourth after completing preliminary competition in third. She earned a score of 201.50 in the finals. Sophomore Kate Dwyer took fifth in the finals with a score of 192.02.

The Blue Devils will return to action on Thursday, January 3 at the Orange Bowl Classic in Key Largo, FL.
