2011-12: Placed 11th in the 1,650 yard freestyle at the Northeast Conference Championships with a time of 17:51.69...Finished 13th in the 500 yard freestyle at the NEC Championships with a time of 5:10.29...Placed fourth in the 1,000 yard freestyle against Vermont finishing the race in 10:45.89...Helped the 200 yard freestyle relay team earn fourth place at the Blue Devil Duals, the team finished in 1:43.65.

2010-11: Finished 14th in the 500 and 15th in the 200 free events at the NEC Championships.

2009-10: Placed sixth in the 200 freestyle at the Northeast Conference Championships…Also 15th in the 50 and 100 free events.

Before Central: Shortell swam at Ansonia High and with the Valley YMCA.  She will primarily work in the freestyle events during the 2009-10 season.
