Swimming & Diving Drops Meet at Bryant
The CCSU swimming and diving team finished behind the UNH Wildcats and the Bryant Bulldogs Friday night in Smithfield, RI.
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team finished behind Bryant and New Hampshire on Friday in Smithfield, RI. The Blue Devils clinched a pair of first-place victories during the meet, both from junior Kristina Gulia. She completed the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.80 and paced the 200 yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:26.29.
Central placed swimmers in the top four in ten out of 14 events. Junior Kasey Chilton earned second place in the 1000 yard freestyle, completing the event in 10:36.00. Senior Allison Rasile also grabbed second for Central. She finished just one hundredth of a second behind first place Taylor DeBever of Bryant in the 500 yard freestyle. DeBever's time broke the previous pool record in the event.
The Blue Devils took third in four individual events, two of those finishes were from Junior Helene Neuhaus. She finished the 100 yard backstroke in 1:00.28 and touched the wall in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:09.80. Senior Katie Lang took the bronze in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.67 and classmate Taylor Friedmann finished the 100 yard freestyle in 54:04. Central also finished third in the 400 yard medley relay. The team completed the event in 4:03.21 and included Neuhaus, Lang, Gulia and Friedmann.
Friedmann also grabbed fourth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.89. CCSU took fifth in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The team, made up of juniors Erin Massey and Kellen Power, along with Lang and Rasile, finished the event in 1:42.12.
The final scores for the meet were:
Bryant 169- Central Connecticut 92
New Hampshire 137- Bryant 124
New Hampshire 180- Central Connecticut 80

The Blue Devils will be on the road for their next meet of the season. They will travel to Vermont
to face off against the Catamounts on Saturday, Nov. 17. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m.
