
Women's Soccer Moves to 3-0 in NEC Play With 2-0 Win at LIU Brooklyn
Blue Devils have not allowed a goal in conference play this season
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team moved to 3-0 in Northeast Conference with a 2-0 win on the road at LIU Brooklyn on Sunday. The win moves Central to 5-8-1 with the victory. They will return to action on Friday night on the road at Wagner.
Senior goalkeeper Nicki Turley recorded her fifth win via the shutout this season. The shutout is her third straight and she has not allowed a goal in the last 317:09. In her last six games she has allowed just three goals and has five shutouts.
Junior Alex Zampini scored her first goal of the season in the first half to give the Blue Devils the 1-0 lead. Zampini took a rebound off a shot from freshman Emily Hogan and drilled the rebound by the Blackbird goalkeeper for the one goal lead.
In the second half freshman Carla Jackson scored in her third straight game to double the lead and make it 2-0. Jackson made a move around the Blackbird defender inside the box and fired it home to give the Blue Devils the 2-0 lead in the 61st minute.
Turley made two saves to record the shutout and continue her dominant play in goal over the last six games.
The Blue Devils are back in NEC action on Friday night on the road at Wagner at 7 p.m.
