
Women's Soccer Stopped at Vermont, 2-0, on Friday
Blue Devils will face New Hampshire on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team fell to 0-3 on the season with a 2-0 loss on the road at Vermont on Friday. The game was the first in the TD Bank Classic for the Blue Devils. They will also play vs. New Hampshire on Sunday at 11 a.m., also at Vermont.
Brooke Jenkins scored the game's first goal for the home team at 27:51 of the first half. She collected the ball on the left side and beat CCSU sophomore keeper Ashley Cavanaugh to the right corner for the 1-0 lead.
Vermont upped the lead to 2-0 in the second half in the 70th minute when Julia Smith scored her first of the season for the Catamounts.
Cavanaugh, making her start of the season for the Blue Devils, made one save in goal in the loss. The Blue Devils held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Vermont had a 12-10 edge in total shots.
