
Women's Soccer Falls to New Hampshire, 3-0, on Sunday

The Central Connecticut women's soccer team lost to New Hampshire, 3-0, on Sunday in Burlington, VT. The game was played as part of the TD Bank Classic hosted by the University of Vermont.
Central opened the game with four shots in the opening 12:53 and forced a trio of saves from UNH's Mimi Borkan.
The game would remain scoreless until just before halftime. At the 43:00 mark, UNH's Maddie Burdick took a free kick that bounced inside the box and was headed over the CCSU defense into the net by Kelsey Davis for a 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats doubled the lead just after halftime. At the 46:35 mark, Brooke Murphy collected a loose ball in the 18-yard box and evaded the Central defense before placing her shot into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
UNH closed out the scoring just under a minute later when Kaylan Williams played a pass ahead to Murphy who dribbled towards the CCSU goal before unleashing a shot from distance just under the bar for a 3-0 margin.
Senior Nicki Turley made six saves for the Blue Devils in net. Sophomore Danielle Pearse had a pair of shots for Central.
UNH held a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal and Borkan made four stops for the shutout.
Central is back in action on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Harvard in a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
