Baseball Takes Saturday Tilt at LIU, 10-1
The Central Connecticut baseball team won its fourth straight Northeast Conference game, defeating LIU, 10-1, on Saturday at LIU Field. Senior Brandon Fox tossed 8.0 innings of one-run ball, while the offense took advantage of five LIU errors to plate 10 runs.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central scored seven runs in the opening four innings, taking advantage of several LIU defensive miscues. In the first, junior Jay Devito singled home a run and senior Dave Matthews hit a sac fly to make it 2-0. Central tacked on two more in the second after sophomore Dan Covino singled home a run and freshman Michael Torniero scored on a throwing error. Freshman Hunter Pasqualini singled home a run in the third and would bring home another run with a bases loaded walk in the fourth. Freshman Jeff Nicol added an RBI-single in the fourth to give CCSU a 7-0 lead.
- Devito would hit a bases loaded double with two outs in the top of the seventh to push across three runs and make it 10-0.
- Fox allowed only one LIU runner to reach third base through the first seven innings. The Sharks would finally scratch out a run in the eighth when Dawson Degnan hit a two-out single with runners on second and third to make it 10-1.

4 - Fox won his fourth game of the season, setting a career-high for wins.
NOTES
- Fox scattered eight hits, while walking two and striking out one. He has thrown a team-high 43.0 innings on the season, going at least 6.0 innings in five of his starts.
- Freshman Randy Reyes tossed the ninth, striking out two and working around a walk.
- Devito went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the game. He is hitting .361 on the year.
- Covino Went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. He leads the team with 18 runs scored and 20 RBIs on the season.
- Paqualini added two runs and two RBIs. He went 1-for-1 and drew three walks in the game.
- Central clinched its fifth straight NEC series win of the season. CCSU has won eight of its last nine games played.
