Baseball Caps the Weekend With 4-1 Win over Stony Brook
The Central Connecticut baseball team rallied for a 4-1 win over Stony Brook on Sunday to close out the weekend series at CCSU Baseball Field. The Blue Devils scored two runs each in the seventh and eighth innings to cap off a strong pitching performance by freshman Anthony Mozzicato.
The Blue Devils host UAlbany on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- Stony Brook got its only run in the top of the second when Johnny Decker led off with a single and moved to third base before crossing home plate on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.
- Central, which was held hitless through the first four innings of the game, came to life in the seventh inning. Senior Buddy Dewaine hit a one-out single to left and moved to third base on a double by senior Dave Matthews. With two outs, junior Sam Loda roped a single to left field to drive in two runs and give CCSU a 2-1 lead.
- The Blue Devils tacked on a pair of insurance in the eighth. Sophomore Dan Covino led off with a walk and moved to third on a sacrifice and a groundout. Dewaine followed with a two-out single to drive in Covino, before coming home on a double by Matthews to make it 4-1.
NOTES
- Mozzicato tossed 7.0 innings and scattered four hits, while collecting six strikeouts.
- Dewaine posted his third multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4.
- Matthews finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. It was his third multi-hit game of the season as well.
- Freshman Jake Neuman collected his first save, throwing 2.0 shutout innings. He allowed two singles while striking out two.
