Volleyball Sweeps FDU on Homecoming
The Central Connecticut volleyball team swept FDU on Homecoming, winning 25-12, 25-12, 25-11.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team earned a three set victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils (10-7, 1-2 NEC) won 25-12, 25-12 and 25-11 to sweep the Knights (1-15, 0-3 NEC).
The Blue Devils dominated play throughout the match. CCSU posted 14.0 total blocks over the three set match. The Blue Devils hit .333 as a team and made just eight attack errors.
Senior Veronika Ban was CCSU's leading hitter with seven kills and a .636 hitting percentage. She was followed by freshman Cassidy Stankowski who posted six kills. Stankowski also had eight digs and assisted on five blocks.
Freshman Brooke Schwab posted a team-high eight blocks assists and also contributed five kills on nine attacks with no errors to record a .556 hitting.
Freshman Rachel Fish led the reception defense with nine digs.
Sophomore Makenna Lommori had a strong match with 26 assists, three kills, four digs and six block assists. Lommori and Schwab teamed up for six of CCSU's 14 blocks.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Sunday at Detrick Gym. CCSU will host Sacred Heart with the match scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
