Volleyball Drops First Match in California
Blue Devils will play twice on Saturday
The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped to 1-3 on the season with three-set loss to Cal Poly in the first match of a weekend tournament at Sacramento State on Friday night. Cal Poly won 25-22, 25-12 and 25-19.
The Blue Devils will play a pair of matches on Saturday at the tournament. They will open with Sacramento State and play the final match of the weekend vs. San Jose State.
Central was led by senior Veronika Ban who had a team-high seven kills. Freshman Cassidy Stankowski added six kills and four digs.
Sophomore Makenna Lommori had 21 assists four digs and three kills in the loss.
Cal Poly's Chelsea Hardin had 13 kills in the win, while teammate Megan McConnell added 10 and five digs.
The Blue Devils, now 1-3 on the season, play Sacramento State and San Jose State on Saturday. Next weekend they will play in the Dartmouth Big Green Invite, before beginning their home schedule on Sept. 20 hosting the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational
