Schwab Earns Molten/NEC Weekly Honor
Freshman Brooke Schwab was Molten/Northeast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Schwab played her first collegiate matches with the Central Connecticut volleyball team at the Colgate Classic and made an immediate impact on the court.
Schwab had a strong start to her career for the Blue Devils with 10 total blocks over three matches and 10 sets of play. Her 10 total blocks were broken down between three solo and seven assisted.
She posted three blocks in her first collegiate match, a 3-1 loss to St. John's, on Friday. After failing to record a block against Colgate, Schwab rebounded with an impressive seven-block effort against Binghamton. She recorded two solo and five assisted blocks in the 3-0 victory over defending America East champion.
Schwab also played well offensively over the weekend with 21 kills and three assists. She connected on 21 of 25 total attacks and had just six attack errors to post a solid .429 hitting percentage.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Friday afternoon at the Sacramento State Invitational.
