Schwab Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week
Freshman Brooke Schwab earned her second NEC weekly award.
Central Connecticut volleyball freshman Brooke Schwab was named Molten/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. Schwab played well on the Blue Devils trip to the West Coast for three matches at the Sacramento State Invitational.
Schwab totaled 21 kills and recorded an impressive .400 attack percentage. The Beaverton, Oregon native posted a solid 2.10 kills and 1.00 blocks per set from her middle blocker position.
In a defeat at the hands of Sacramento State, the rookie notched 10 kills accompanied by an outstanding .500 attack percentage. Following the loss, Schwab bounced back to anchor the net for an eight-block performance in a 3-0 win over San Jose State. She also posted eight kills against San Jose.
Schwab was strong on defense with 10 total blocks, including three solo. Schwab was honored with the Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week award last Tuesday.
On the season, Schwab has a .413 hitting percentage with 21 kills and 20 total blocks.
The Blue Devils will play four matches at the Big Green Invitational this weekend, the event is hosted by Dartmouth.
